Heart & Emotions
Grief
Loss that does not follow a schedule.
What the Word says
“The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.”
Psalm 34:18
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
Revelation 21:4
Practical reflection & suggested application — not Scripture
Kingdom principle
Scripture never rushes grief. God is described as near to the broken-hearted — presence first, explanations later, comfort promised in full.
What this can look like in real life
Everyone else has returned to normal and you are still measuring time by what happened.
What to do today
- ♕Give yourself permission to feel it today without fixing it.
- ♕Tell God honestly what you miss.
- ♕Let one person carry a practical thing for you this week.
- ♕Keep one small, ordinary rhythm — a meal, a walk, a prayer.
What to avoid
- —Comparing your grief to anyone else's timeline.
- —Numbing it with something that will cost you later.
- —Deciding that faith means you should already be past this.
Prayer
Lord, You are near to the broken-hearted. Sit with me in this, and hold me together on the days I cannot. Amen.
Kingdom check
What do I need to say to God that I have not said?
Who has offered help that I have been declining?
When to seek pastoral support
Some things are not meant to be carried alone. If this is ongoing, heavy or affecting your safety or your family, reach out to church leadership. Nothing in your private journal is ever shared — you choose what to send.
Reach out about grief →If you are in immediate danger or thinking of harming yourself, contact your local emergency services right away.
Sign in to save this, journal about it and track your journey. It stays private to you.
