Lust

What you look at, and what it is training you to want.

What the Word says

Scripture · KJV
But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Matthew 5:28

Scripture · KJV
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

1 Corinthians 10:13

Practical reflection & suggested application — not Scripture

Kingdom principle

Scripture treats lust as something that begins in the eyes and the imagination, long before behavior — and it promises a way of escape rather than mere willpower.

What this can look like in real life

It is a late night, a familiar app, and the same decision point you have met a hundred times.

What to do today

  • Remove access — filters, deleted apps, phone out of the bedroom tonight.
  • Tell one same-gender accountability partner the truth about this week.
  • Identify the trigger — boredom, stress, loneliness — and plan the alternative in advance.
  • Take the escape God provides the moment it appears; do not negotiate.

What to avoid

  • Depending on willpower at the moment of temptation.
  • Keeping it entirely secret.
  • Confusing conviction with condemnation and giving up.

Prayer

Father, guard my eyes and my imagination. Give me the courage to take the way of escape today. Amen.

Kingdom check

What am I usually feeling right before this starts?

What access do I still have that I know I should not?

When to seek pastoral support
