Training, correcting, and not exasperating.
What the Word says
“And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.”
Ephesians 6:4
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
Proverbs 22:6
Practical reflection & suggested application — not Scripture
Kingdom principle
Scripture pairs instruction with restraint: train them, and do not provoke them. Consistency matters more than intensity.
What this can look like in real life
You corrected out of your own frustration and you knew it while you were doing it.
What to do today
- ♕Apologize to your child for the tone, without excusing the standard.
- ♕Set one clear, consistent expectation and hold it calmly.
- ♕Spend ten unhurried minutes with each child today.
What to avoid
- —Correcting while your anger is leading.
- —Changing rules by mood.
- —Comparing them to a sibling.
Prayer
Father, make me patient and consistent. Help me shepherd my children rather than manage them. Amen.
