Wrath & Rage

Anger that no longer stops when the moment does.

What the Word says

Scripture · KJV
Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Ephesians 4:31-32

Scripture · KJV
He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

Proverbs 25:28

Practical reflection & suggested application — not Scripture

Kingdom principle

Wrath is anger that has taken up residence. Scripture treats self-rule as protection — a life without it is described as a city with no walls.

What this can look like in real life

The outburst is over, but the tension in the house has not lifted, and people are managing their words around you.

What to do today

  • Tell one trusted, mature believer the truth about the pattern.
  • Identify the physical warning signs and name them out loud when they start.
  • Apologize specifically to anyone your anger landed on — no explanations attached.
  • Remove yourself physically from the room before responding, every time.

What to avoid

  • Explaining the outburst by pointing at what the other person did.
  • Promising it will never happen again without changing anything concrete.
  • Isolating yourself with it, where it grows unchecked.

Prayer

Lord, rebuild what has been broken down in me. Teach me self-control that holds when I am provoked, and give me humility to seek help. Amen.

Kingdom check

Who has been on the receiving end of this that I have never acknowledged?

What am I unwilling to look at underneath the anger?
