Scripture Guide
Anger
Someone disrespected you and everything in you wants to answer back.
“Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.”
James 1:19-20
Practical reflection & suggested application — not Scripture
What does this mean?
Scripture does not say anger is never felt. It says anger must never lead. Listening comes first, speech comes second, and wrath comes last — because human anger does not produce the righteous outcome God is after.
Real life
A coworker corrected you in front of the team in a tone that felt disrespectful. Your face is hot, and you are already writing the reply in your head.
The emotional response
Answer immediately, match the tone, prove you were right, and let everyone see you were not going to take it.
The Kingdom response
Feel it honestly, delay the response, address the actual issue directly and without retaliation, and protect the relationship where it can be protected.
Walk it out
- ♕Pause before responding — even sixty seconds of silence changes the outcome.
- ♕Pray before you confront the situation, not after it escalates.
- ♕Name the one thing that actually needs to be addressed, then speak it directly without retaliation.
What to avoid
- —Retaliating with words designed to wound rather than resolve.
- —Rehearsing the offense privately until it grows larger than it was.
- —Calling silence 'peace' when the issue truly needs an honest conversation.
Kingdom check
· Am I trying to be understood, or trying to win?
· If this person changed tomorrow, would I still be carrying this?
· What boundary, if any, is genuinely needed here?
Prayer
Father, slow me down. Let me hear before I speak. Guard my mouth, heal what this touched in me, and let my response look like Your Son. Amen.
